1Faulty Rock Band 2 guitars!!!!! BUY AT OWN RISK!!! EA SUPPORT IS TERRIBLE!!!!!  Jun 24, 2010
Okay, so I got this game about 2 months ago, and have had nothing but problems with the Rock Band 2 guitars. When we pulled it out of the box and hooked it up, everything synced up fine, then when we went to play the red buttons didn't work on the guitar. We set up EA's speedy warranty replacement, which means they put a pending charge on your credit or debit card, and send you a new one and if they don't receive the old one within 28 days, they charge you. Well, when we FINALLY got the guitar, we had 4 days to send it, but they charged us early!!! We never even had a chance to replace it.

So I called up, and they ended up refunding the charge, but the guitar they sent us HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!!! So I called them up AGAIN and they claimed the Beatles Rock Band guitars weren't having the same problem as the regular Rock Band 2 guitars, only for me to inform them that they sent me the Beatles Rock Band Bass. So they sent me the Rickenbacker, another Beatles Rock Band guitar, and guess what, THE SAME PROBLEM!!! We're on replacement number 3/our 4th guitar now, waiting for it in the mail, hopefully this one will ACTUALLY WORK.

Oh, and another thing, EA will not let you refund the full game and get your money back, you have to bring it back to the store, even though on the box it says to return it to EA, so if you buy this game, you're stuck with it.

1How Boring  Jun 07, 2010
Got this for my wife's birthday. Had some people over and they seemed to enjoy it, and i'll admit I enjoyed for about a month too. But now... I have zero desire to ever play it.

The game comes with like 60 songs, of which you have heard around 20, feel like hearing 5, and feel like playing around 2 more than 5 times. After those two songs are tired, its on to the other songs that you really didnt want to play in the first place. So you deal with these for a while and then you head over to the downloadable content store. Wow, there are hundreds of songs on here. But wait, again, 90% you have never heard of, 2% you would consider paying for, and finally, 5 to 10 songs you actually download and play. Another week goes by and now those songs are tired and boring. You have just turned your favorite songs into THAT song that you used to like and cant stand to hear it ever again.

But what about multiplayer. If you have no coordination, the drums are out; but there out anyways because you can barely here the drums if you do play well. On to the bass; again cant here a thing, and what you do here is so far removed from what the song sounds like because its a base, you can barely here the bass on any song anyways. How about the mic. Great, Karaeoke on 5 songs; singing them over and over again becuase you dont really want to sing any of the other songs because youve never heard them, or dont care to here them. So back to the guitar to play your 6 songs over and over again.

But wait theres Beatles Rock Band, again $40 for 2 or 3 songs.

Over the 2 months I played, I got passed easy and decent at medium (or whatever the next level is called). But to actually start feeling a challenge, you need to go to hard, which means you have to practice; practice on tired old songs or terrible songs. no thanks.

When you actually get to the end of a song you get your gratifiation from knowing that you played 94% correct, ok, who cares. So next time I'm shooting for 100%? Why? Or maybe I'll just play again and watch those cool graphics. Cant do that, too busy watching for those dots rolling at you, and besides, its just character's standing on a stage singing, who cares!

The only way this game would ever be appealing is if they had thousands and thousands of songs to play. Ill guess I'll just have to wait ten years for that to happen since they release a song a day. But what about the Rock Band Network where regualr people are creating the songs. Well, take a look at the list, never head of them, and dont care to either.

This is basically an interactive karaeoke machine that is really fun if you have one person who knows the song to sing, one person who is so indifferent to what the song is that they dont mind playing the guitar, and 2 other people who have never played before because they wont mind playing the bass and drums.

Maybe i just dont know how to turn on the "Fun" option on Rock Band but probably not. If you want to buy this game, ask your neighbor who has one already and see how much they play. If you live next to me I'll tell you never.

5So much fun!  May 26, 2010
I love this game! It is so much fun to play, especially with a friend or two. You get to feel like you know how to play an instrument that you maybe didn't have the time to learn in your life, and you get to feel like a rockstar. This is a great game to have fun with.

2Great game ....... terrible equipment ....... synch problems  May 26, 2010
BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK - I purchased Rock Band 2 Special Edition for Wii for my 13 year old son at a store because it was cheaper than on Amazon.com. It was hard to find because it's so popular. Unfortunately, right out of the box, the guitar was defective (one of the frets didn't work). A call to EA games tech support revealed (and this is straight from EA games) that they are overwhelmed by complaints about equipment being defective right out of the box and with little use. There is a 6-8 WEEK delay in shipping out replacement parts and you have to provide your credit card number to be charged for a new one until you return the defective one. The EA rep actually recommended that I return it to the store and "hope for the best" with the new one (keep in mind I already had a new one).

So ... box returned. Got a new one. Equipment seems to work, but now during each and every song, the instruments lose synch with the console (all of them at the same time for about 15-20 seconds) so you lose points and sometimes fail the whole song. It makes it absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to achieve a score above 80-90% when you should get 100%.

The game is indeed very addictive and i've enjoyed playing it with my son (other than the frustration with the synch) but i'm not sure it's worth it with all the hardware problems. After reading several forums trying to figure out how to fix the synch problem I discovered I'm not alone and lots of people are very unhappy.

5Great Game  Apr 25, 2010
NEver having played this game much before, my family really enjoys playing it and I like that each player can pick his or her own level to play at. My kids are fairly young and they can play it, plus its fun for older kids and adults too. The only downside was that since it was used, there was no set-up instruction manual. But there were plenty of directions on-line.
