Great look, Good feel Apr 18, 2010 I've had this guitar for almost a year now and played with it quite a few times as well as handed it off to friends that were over for a Rock Band party -- compared to the regular wireless Rock Band 2 guitars that are packaged with the original release kit (not the new Beatles ones) it's performance/feel/"I like this" factor is just about the same... it feels about 15% different, what I mean by that is if you like the normal Rock Band 2 wireless guitar already, this feels very similar -- the buttons are a bit more steady (not stiffer, but they don't jiggle around like the normal guitar at all) and the strum bar is a HAIR stiffer, but still has a smooth travel up or down -- no clicking.
The little touches like the metal whammy bar, metal knobs and turnable "tuner" grips at the top are all nice touches that make the overall faux feel of the guitar really great -- it does feel plastic though and is lighter than you expect given how it looks all fancy. So the illusion of "awesome/real" guitar fades away when you grab it, but it plays just fine and for the price I don't think anyone was expecting a real wooden guitar or anything.
There is a touch-sensitive pad on the guitar at the base of the frets, that little silver thing you see in the picture is a touch-sensitive button that MIGHT be really cool if you want/use it... I don't, and it drives me nuts when friends are over and are CONSTANTLY accidentally tapping it while we are trying to select a song. I think it's easy enough to throw tape over it, but just be aware of that feature if you are using the guitar and the game is acting insane and you are wondering why... someone is likely touching that touch-plate.
Overall, an easy 4 out of 5 score -- if you were at all interested in buying this because you liked the look or needed a new guitar and thought this was cool, it's a very easy recommendation, go ahead and buy it. If you don't necessarily NEED a new guitar and thought maybe this was all real wood and would be cool to have, I'd say pass on it because it's definitely a plastic instrument and not quite as insanely sexy as the Logitech premium guitar or some of those other ultra-realistic ones out there.

Good look. Little improvement over original Dec 19, 2009 This guitar definitely looks better than the original Rock Band guitars, but there's very little in the way of actual usability improvements that I could say for certain that it is really worth buying.
The one notable improvement over the Rock Band guitars is the touch-sensitive Back button. It makes it a lot easier to activate overdrive/star power while strumming away. But it's also easy to hit accidentally so I question whether it was really needed.
Another strange design decision is that the fret buttons are only half-buttons. That is, they start in the middle of the fret and extend down. This makes for some error depending on how accurate your fingers are. Also, the whammy bar is awkward to use. It is either in the way or so far out of the way that it's difficult to access. Then there's the start button, which is actually a knob that you need to turn until it clicks. It's weird and unnecessary.
The strum bar is nice. It's quiet and responsive. And despite the half fret buttons, they actually feel nice. There is a velvety coating and the buttons push softly.
Other than that, it pretty much compares to the other Rock Band guitars. But it's just a whole lot more money.
The good:
- Wireless
- Touch sensitive back button
- Good looks
- Quiet fret and buttons
The bad:
- Half fret buttons
- Awkward whammy
- Awkward start button
- Expensive
I actually would not recommend this guitar simply because you can get the regular rock band guitar for a lot less money with basically the same functionality. Unless you're some kind of professional rock bander that performs in public, there's really no need for this. Sorry Mad Catz.

A fine guitar... nice upgrade from the standard Guitar Hero one Dec 17, 2009 I've never been willing to part with the cash to upgrade my stock Guitar Hero 3 guitar but I'm sure glad Amazon was kind enough to give me the chance to. This guitar is larger, a bit more heavy, but that's a good thing. It's not quite "real" feeling but that's okay, I'm not playing real guitar here and I know that. The fret buttons are much easier to use than the stock guitar because they extend all the way to the edge and you can hit them without stretching your finger up the fret. I found the clicker switch to have a longer "throw" which screwed up my timing quite a bit but after a couple songs I was back to rocking as good as I ever did.
If you love Rock Band, then you'll love this guitar.

Not really an improvement over the standard XBOX 360 Guitar Controller Nov 20, 2009 I was really looking forward trying out the Telecaster replica. The image looks good but the distressed look isn't very realistic when you see it in person. I have no problems with the whammy bar or strum bar. My big (huge) gripe is with the buttons.
The buttons don't occupy the full width of the neck They're about 2/3ds of the width. What that means for me is that I often miss hitting a button because I'm pushing the button on the side nearest to me.
The shape of the button is also a problem. It's squared of rather than rounded (like the Rockband 2 wireless guitar) so if you try to slide a finger from one fret button to another it can catch on the edge of a button.
I've been playing Rockband since it came out on XBOX 360 and also Rockband 2 and the Beatles edition. I'm decent and I can play most songs on Hard with no problem and some in Expert. I'm sure that I could figure out how to make use of this controller if I had to but I don't see the point. It really takes away from the fun of the game to have to adapt the way I play.

Works Great, but is it Worth the Price Nov 18, 2009 Full disclosure: I received this free for Vine review purposes.
That said, we were definitely in the market for an additional guitar for our xBox 360 Rock Band game.
I cannot in anyway complain about the performance of this item. In fact, for me, I enjoyed playing guitar/bass more than normal because of the psychological impact playing on a more 'real' looking guitar has on me.
I like pretty shiny things.
Though I don't play above novice myself, I did like the added feature of the 'wave' bar, as I call it. I believed it enhanced my score during the power portions of play, but I'm not entirely sure. It certainly enhanced my enjoyment of the game.
My husband, who's more interested in these things, swore that this device was of superior performance quality to the original wired guitar, so I'll take his word for it.
As for the price: I'm not a gamer. I don't understand how some people can spend so much money on their equipment and setup (like my 17 year old brother). So there is no way I'd pay over over $60 for a spare guitar just because it looks fancy.
But I know people who do and that's cool for them.
If you're going to blow nearly $200 for a new wireless guitar controller and are really into replicas, then this just might be the item for you.
